I joined the Marine Corps in 1995 and I broke my femur with two weeks left of basic training. I was given an Honorable Discharge and 20% disability. During my time in Parris Island, I went through so much stress that I would have hated for anyone to take advantage of me for any reason. I'll never forget how vulnerable I felt then.

Fast forward to when my real estate career began in 2005 when I became a Realtor. Once I began showing homes, I quickly realized that I didn't know anything about the actual structure and systems of the homes. That realization led me to enroll in a home inspection course through the American Home Inspectors Institute.

By 2009, home inspections became my full-time profession. Since 2005. I've inspected thousands of homes across Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland. I was very satisfied with the act of working in peoples' best interests. 

Through those inspections, I worked with hundreds of military families during PCS moves. And I saw the same thing over and over again — veterans were actually being taken advantage of by their Realtors. They were getting poor service, bad advice after the inspection, and being rushed through the process repair process. Many times, the Realtors were not even at the home inspections to understand what was wrong with the house. And, often times, I was the one person the Veteran could trust, over their own Realtor.   This was the initial birth of The VA Home Team, LLC.
